10-Jun-2011 Aviation Technology Accelerates Bible Translation!JAARS is scheduled to receive a third Kodiak airplane in late June 2011. This new Kodiak will have the recently approved Cargo Pod, making it easier and more efficient to load and travel safely with a larger cargo payload. Bound for Papua New Guinea, where the first two Kodiaks delivered to JAARS are serving Bible translation very well, this turbine-powered aircraft will be the newest in our efforts to upgrade the JAARS aviation fleet. JAARS aviation is also working expectantly on a deal to purchase a used Pilatus PC-6. Currently in South Africa, this airplane will head to Indonesia after receiving a partial paint job and some additional avionics equipment. The Kodiak replaces the C206, and the PC-6 replaces our aging piston-powered Helio-Couriers. Both of these older models depend on expensive Av-gas. These new models move us into the digital, turbine-powered, jet-fueled arena and will help us to fulfill Vision 2025—Wycliffe’s mission to see a Bible translation program started in every language that needs one by the year 2025.
