Donor Stories![]() Adapted from a story by Mark Gaddis A translation team in West Africa recently finished a New Testament. To make it available to the nomadic group they were working with, they recorded it, along with an evangelistic message and other discipleship tools, onto MegaVoice MP3 players. These solar-powered players are ideal for use in remote camps where there are no formal churches and very few pastors. One older man who received a MegaVoice, said, “Don’t worry about not coming to visit me so often. I now have a pastor. I cannot see him, but he will teach me.” Another Christian named Abdu* took a MegaVoice to a baby-naming ceremony. While there, he walked away from the crowd and started playing it. A few people went over to listen and before long, a large group assembled around him to listen to the Gospel. The chief of the region, who was attending the ceremony, called Abdu over. Abdu was worried. He knew the chief didn’t like Christians and had persecuted many in the area. “They told me you have a radio that plays without batteries. Is that true? What does it play?” “Yes, it plays messages about how to follow Jesus.” “Turn it on.” Abdu played the messages, and all listened intently. After some time, the chief surprised everyone by saying, “If this is what Christianity is really about, I am interested. Where can I buy one of these?” Like many of his people, as soon as the chief heard the Gospel in his heart language, he recognized it as truth and wanted it. Although he knows he may lose his position as chief, his wealth, his family, and maybe even his life, to him it is worth it. Through creative gift planning, Wycliffe Foundation can help you use your God-given assets to help other groups like this one hear the truth of God’s Word. *For security reasons, Abdu is a pseudonym. « Read More Stories
