WYCLIFFE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $2.7 MILLION GIFT

Originally posted on April 24, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla.—Wycliffe Foundation announced today it received a $2.7 million gift in a partial distribution of a trust from a donor in Prescott, Ariz.

The gift comes from Betty C. Manierre, who named Wycliffe Bible Translators USA as a beneficiary of 45 percent of her estate. The undesignated gift will pass through Wycliffe Foundation to Wycliffe Bible Translators USA to support areas of the world most in need of funding, as determined by Wycliffe USA.

According to her step-son, Manierre had a deep appreciation for the work of Wycliffe. She began financially supporting the organization in 1991, primarily through a charitable gift annuity. She passed away on January 20, 2008, just before her 96 th birthday.

Wycliffe Foundation was established to raise funds through gifts such as Manierre’s. Currently, there are 2,251 languages in the world representing 193 million people without any portion of the Bible in their own language.
