The Sìcìté people were under the control of the spirits of the water. They worshiped these idols and made sacrifices to them every year, thinking this was the only way to ensure protection for themselves and their families. They had not yet heard God's Word.
Wycliffe missionaries sought to change that. As a result, the Sìcìté people are finally learning about God and hearing His Word. And they have stopped worshiping the spirits of the water.
A growing Sicite church
With the introduction of the book "Way of the Lord" in the Sìcìté mother tongue, the church in the area has grown, and many people are being baptized. The people of this village are learning to follow the Lord and are entrusting their lives to Him for complete protection, healing and everlasting life.
Gifts to Bible translation make change possible
Believers' generous giving helps make stories like this possible and allows people across the world hear God's Word speak to their hearts.
A member of the Anglican Church of Kenya put it this way:
"If things had been like this all along, we would have already been helped across the river of ignorance and darkness. The Word of God would be in our language, and our people would have seen the light long ago. Do not give up on us."
