While raising their family and serving in their church, Barbara and George developed a passion for missions and reaching the world for Christ.
After meeting Wycliffe missionaries and supporting them for years, they began praying about opportunities to serve with Wycliffe on the mission field when they both retired. Soon after, George was diagnosed with a brain tumor and later died.
Barbara realized George had a second life insurance policy and began looking for ways to make an impact with God’s Word through Wycliffe. She decided to use the money to establish a Wycliffe Donor Advised Fund. This allowed her to continue supporting the ministry of the Wycliffe family of organizations indefinitely.
The Wycliffe Donor Advised Fund
A donor advised fund allows partners to maximize stewardship opportunities while reducing the burden of making multiple contributions to ministry organizations.
- Partners make an irrevocable, tax-deductible contribution to Wycliffe Foundation
- Wycliffe Foundation liquidates the assets and invests the proceeds
- Partners advise Wycliffe Foundation on what qualified organizations will receive grants
- Wycliffe Foundation completes due diligence and disperses the grant funds
- Partners are able to name a successor representative to make grant recommendations after their passing
The Wycliffe DAF also simplifies the giving process by conducting much of the preliminary research and distribution work. Partners who initiate a DAF also enjoy tax-advantaged giving by receiving an immediate tax deduction and eliminating capital gains taxes on the assets contributed to the fund. DAFs essentially act like a family foundation, without the annual tax reporting and paperwork, while maximizing giving opportunities to Kingdom work and the Wycliffe family of organizations.
How it works
You can establish a donor advised fund using various assets, including:
