For a limited time, partners can use their Individual Retirement Account to help support Bible Translation, literacy efforts and linguistic training through Wycliffe and our affiliate partner organizations.
You can view a video presentation on IRA rollover gifts (opens a new window) or read our IRA Fact Sheet (PDF) for more information.
Here are the highlights of this new gift type recently passed by Congress and signed by the President:
- Supporters must be 70 ½ at the time of the rollover gift
- Gifts are allowed up to $100,000 in 2008-2009 and will not increase your taxable income. Couples with separate IRAs can gift up to a total of $200,000.
- The contribution will count toward your required minimum distribution
- Gifts must be made directly from the IRA to the ministry of choice
- Contributions are considered “outright” or “current” gifts and cannot be used to fund a charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust or a donor advised fund
We encourage you to contact your Gift Planning Associate and your CPA or tax advisor for further details, or email us directly at info@wycliffefoundation.org to find out more.
