Why Bible Translation?

Today, more than two thousand language groups are without any Scripture in a language and form they can clearly understand. Meanwhile, hundreds of Bible translations are available in the English language. This is a great tragedy—an injustice we are unwilling to accept.

The mission of Wycliffe Bible Translators is to see a Bible translation in progress for every language that needs it by the year 2025. We also focus on community development, literacy training, and church partnerships, helping communities to flourish and equipping them to participate in the Great Commission.

When people receive Scripture in their own language for the first time, and are able to clearly understand the transformational message of the Gospel, it often has a dramatic effect. Killers become peaceful, spirit worshippers become Christ followers, alcoholics become sober, and more.

God’s Word is truly powerful. As Isaiah 55:11 says, “It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
