Born into a missionary family, George Fisher lived four years in South Africa and has traveled and worked in 40 countries. With a background in educational and international nonprofit organizations, George has served in leadership capacities for development, major gifts, estate planning, event management, and alumni and public relations.
After serving Oral Roberts University for 28 years, George resigned his position as vice president of university relations and development to join The Westfall Group, an Atlanta-based major-gift consulting company for Christian nonprofit organizations. Following that season, he served as vice president of development for Promise Keepers, headquartered in Denver, Colorado.
George transitioned to Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2007 when he recognized the importance of reaching people that have no Scripture in a language and form they clearly understand. "There was a prompting in my heart to reach the Bibleless people when I realized nearly one-third of the world's 7,000 people groups do not have even one word of Scripture in a language that speaks to their hearts" George said. With a master's degree in nonprofit management, George currently serves as senior director of development and gift planning.
George has three wonderful grown children and lives with his beautiful wife of 45 years in Orlando, Florida.
