A Legacy of Faithfulness

As a child, Todd Moore watched his parents sacrifice their time and resources to help others. He watched as his father, an optometrist, volunteered his time at eye clinics in Ecuador, Mexico, and Haiti.

This upbringing gave Todd a passion for advancing God's kingdom by investing in missions. He became a surgeon and married Angela, a dermatologist. The couple began to support several ministries from their home in Arlington, Texas.

After learning that Bible translation provides a foundation for evangelism and other forms of ministry, Todd and Angela decided to invest in the work of The Seed Company, one of Wycliffe's strategic partners. They later traveled with their two young sons to East Asia, Nepal, and Ethiopia to watch translation teams at work.

Todd and Angela deepened their commitment to the work by establishing a donor-advised fund that benefits The Seed Company and other ministries. They learned about the benefits of a donor-advised fund about a decade ago, at the end of a prosperous year.

By following their spending plan, they ended the year with a surplus but without a clear place where they wanted to donate it all at once.

The donor-advised fund allowed Todd and Angela to contribute assets immediately and decide later where they wanted to distribute the gifts. It also enabled them to deduct the full cash value of the gift from their tax return, and it reduced the paperwork involved in making individual gifts.

Beyond the monetary advantages, Todd and Angela reap significant rewards for their family through the donor-advised fund. "For us, it is important that our kids not only develop in their faith, but also their generosity," Todd said. "As our boys grow up, they will have an increasingly large influence on where those grants are made."

Through a donor- advised fund, Todd is furthering the legacy of faithfulness that he inherited from his parents — a legacy that is making a significant impact on the work of Bible translation.
